drawing summer contest opinion

Recommended Posts

Hello, I don't really like writing a post, but I want to show my dissatisfaction with the results of the contest, I don't know with what criteria I qualify Herakles, but I don't agree, I'm not the only one who thinks the same, there were good drawings besides mine and the He chose .... well I don't know how to describe it, I'm sorry but it really is my opinion, I would like that in the next events of this type at least say with what criteria he chooses them.
PS: I attach an image that in my opinion describes the results of the contest.

I do not disagree with any of the choices he made. That is something I will state from the get go to be clear.

However, I personally would have found place for 2 other pieces (You and Fey) that didn't make the cut as in my opinion they are much nicer in my opinion. As an artist you should understand that art is subjective to the person who is viewing and although you might think yours or someone elses was of a much higher talent its not always going to be a winner.

I will be discussing with Herakles a general prize for all participants as quite rightly he said and I say myself everyone deserves something as they're all very good (except for one, you know who you are¬†ūüėČ ).

So expect something in the next couple of days. For future events I'll make sure he makes the criteria much more clear as I do agree its a little vague. So apologise for that!

Imagine being entitled enough to start a rant about "meh i'm better than XY let me win" :D

I first thought it was a random raffle for who wins tbh. It'd be good to have some aspects like "winner for the funniest comission / winner for best drawn picture / winner for most creativity" and so on. Also a participation price is never a bad idea.

To be honest, it seems that the events are designed for 911 users to win,
since it happened, in the first event in the game,
I have not wanted to continue participating for the same reason,
it is not the first time that something like this has happened ,
I do myself an injustice against other players,
that there are preferences in the game to a certain guild of players.

All of the ones that won are nice. While I like yours I think if anything it just lacks actual identity to Eden Eternal beyond the costume referenced on the left, and that's why it "lost." Your photo attachment here is super disrespectful and you're incredibly entitled to talk down to other players that put in the same time you did for their entries. Except for @magnet, he without a doubt put in much more than you.

Pointing fingers like this is delusional and weird. 5 of our members were banned last week, there isn't any bias to members of 911. If you're mad over people whispering Herakles first for events over world chat then I suggest you just learn to type faster...? Dunno what to tell you.

in all honesty, at our events, we never win people because they are our friends or because we like them or we are in such and such a guild. to get back to the post, as I said in the winners list, it's hard to choose the winners because many of you have beautiful drawings. I can't reward everyone, since Jordan agrees to give extra prizes, I'll see with him what we can offer you. Getting back to how I chose the winners, These are our favorites. But if you want the next event to have criteria, don't worry, and good luck to you in that case.

This is unbelivable. All events are not only logged but also evidence is provided that the win was genuine.

So if you have a legit concern other than some mad conspiracy of events favoring 1 player over another put in a ticket of the event you think you should have won and I'll happly show you the proof that you lost fair and square. Not our fault that 1 group of players is better at hide and seek or unscrambles or trivias than you ūüėĀ

First of all, an apology for approaching the subject in this way, my intention was more to attract attention than to offend the other contestants, i really know that everyone did their best, well almost all xD. Other drawings that were not mentioned seemed very good to me, speaking artistically and above all by proportions, i know that this type of contest is very compelling and that is why I asked that the points to be rated next time be based on that, something I feel was the preference towards digital drawings and it is understandable they look cleaner but normally manual work is more arduous.
I repeat I OFFER AN APOLOGY FOR THE WAY IN WHICH THE TOPIC STARTS
ps.thank you jordan
ps2. sorry herakles, I know how difficult it is to be GS everyone is offended

People just been more creative than some others, and they've been rewarded for it. Some respected the theme more than some others and they've been rewarded for it.
If the criterias were only based on drawing skills, proportions and stuff, people would just have to pic a random image on google and steal it by tracing over it and make it EE related somehow. And I personaly do not think it is fair, am I right ?

And Aiskrim, I love that crackhead energy, keep it up

I wanted to participate, but due to time constraints, I couldn't, and seeing the results took away my desire to participate in the future.
I have nothing against 911, and I find it silly that some believe they have event privileges and stuff. Also the drawings of Xylie and Sana are quite good. I think the discontent is due to the winner of the contest, being objective, the theme was a drawing with a summer theme related to the Game, and Aeri's drawing only shows the character waving with his feet in the water. Midori's drawing represents the same thing, with more details and in my opinion a better drawing (the truth is irrelevant), so why didn't he get any prize? The only complaint is about the winner of the contest, since it does not have much game content, come on, there are others that, as I said before, from Xylie and Sana, you can see very well drawn game objects, such as mounts and in a good context or a waiter zumi, pretty nice the truth, which are better than Aeri's. To name a few, since there are others just as good, according to most.
In closing, I have nothing against Aeri, but there are still many who really took the time to think more about their drawings and be more creative, including winks like alpacas, game items, etc.

Still I liked the idea of the event, I hope they do more things like that.

I'm currently thinking about adding selection criteria for winners for the next Drawing Event and maybe even have 2 different rankings for manual and computer/tablet drawings. You'll know more at the next event. #Halloween or Christmas!

i didn't really want to say anything, but if you want to namedrop me i guess i should. it's very rude & entitled to complain that xyz or your favorite entry didn't win a contest, when the whole point of a contest was that you accept the possibility that the winner is drawn based on luck, and you never have a guarantee to place. it's incredibly generous of the staff to see that there was numerous creative & thought out entries and then offer to give more prizes than those originally allotted, especially when players are being sore losers about the placing. my character drawn is wearing:

Star Hairpin (Head)

Spiral Blush (Face)

Sweet Heart Lollipop (Special)

Celeste Gossamer Fins (Back)

Sparklers (Weapon)

*i was going to do the bunny paintbrush but decided against it.

which you can see me referencing in my speedpaint of my entry here:

every costume slot available for use in-game was utilized by my illustration, to present a clear EE theme. the outfit is distinct and something you could see someone wearing in-game. standing at the beach posing for a selfie (which is what it's supposed to look like) is about as summer as it gets. it's just simply crude to assume what effort or thought an artist did or didn't put into their piece. unless other people who entered go into as much detail as i have, we simply don't know so we can't say otherwise either way. being upset that you lost, or feeling like your hypothetical entry would've been worthless, is understandable but still offensive to those who participated and/or placed. scrutinizing those who are trying to have fun is childish, even if they aren't the best artists (with art obviously being subjective anyway.) i don't think anyone entered this contest going "oh boy, i can't wait for people on the forums to pick my art apart and compare my entry with everyone else's to make their own bitter point!"

what could (& should) be done in the future if people are to get this upset every time a contest is held, is to have clear criteria for winners instead of a flat ranking system. for this contest for example if they did categories like digital, traditional (on paper/a physical drawing), and "honorable mentions" to cover those who may have lacked technical skill but still created a creative/thoughtful entry that deserves a prize, i think it would have worked very well. the lack of transparency on original judging criteria is a little frustrating in hindsight, but it shouldn't be something we keep complaining about when it's been addressed that it will be better next time. as far as i know this was the first event of its kind for classic, and given the possibility of what event points can bring to the server (noodle wings, halcyons, exclusive mount) it was a contest worth entering anyway. be a little humble, y'all.

Again an apology from me for approaching the subject like this, really if I was frustrated, I want to clarify that in my drawing I base myself on how I like the characters, without many accessories, however try to give the personality to each drawing as I feel What is each one, I am sorry again it was offensive on my part, the reality is that I never criticized your drawing, it was always good for me, I apologize to Herakles for the accusation I made in a private message, but the response he gave me It was that his wife and he had chosen them, always without any qualification criteria, it is childish of me, but (like everyone) I made an effort to do it, and I spent time, in my case I had never colored an anime style character of that color and it was a challenge for me, I had several failures, and I thank the staff for what they said about giving more awards, yet again an apology from me and I hope that in the following contests of any kind there will be a better explanation of the choice

I personally think the spots were fair, and as an artist i do agree that more criteria can be helpfull, although to a certain extente

In this case what Herakles did with this event was giving us total freedom to do draw whatever we want as long as it was related to summer and EE. So in reality we all had a chance to draw something that truly captivated the audience.

Its not just about technique, but its about the idea and the concept. Some people were creative with the scenarios or they way they portrayed the 2 themes together and managed to convey emotions through it. A prime example for me was @Wooloo and @Zuly those drawings give me complete summer vibes.

thats when i thought to myself, i could have gone a little fursther with my drawing, so in the end, even though i didnt win, i learned alot from this contest. And again, No, art isnt all about talent or technique, theres alot more to it

and since people post their drawing steps here ill do the same :v, I used photoshop to color the drawing o/
