    If you changed passwords to one they wouldn't know then they wouldn't be able to change it again. Unless you, for whatever reason, may have given them your email account too.

  11. This is becoming a common trend in tickets and is getting quite annoying. So I would like to address a few things that Nostale players should keep in mind when submitting a ticket to assure your ticket is done in a timely manner. Failure to follow some of these steps will delay your ticket or cause it to be automatically closed.

     

     

    Mission Items

    We do not resend out any of the mission/quest items should you lose them.

    The fact that we get almost 30+ tickets a day about this matter is what caused us to stop offering a service like this. Be careful with your item, because if you lose it, you'll have to restart the quest/mission.

     

     

    Harassment Towards Staff

    For some reason, people think that trying to curse us out or sitting talking bad about us in a ticket is going to get any better of a response. A ticket like this will be instantly closed, ignored, and depending on the severity of how far you want to go, risk having your account banned, so just avoid doing it.

     

     

    Reporting Someone Speaking Another Language

    This has already been mentioned once, but we do not accept tickets about this. Please contact an online GS.

     

     

    Putting in Multiple Tickets , Spamming Replies on Tickets, or Opening and Closing Multiple Tickets to "Get Our Attention".

    This will not get your ticket answered any faster. In fact, reply spammers and those who spam tickets have their tickets saved for last and are not completed as fast as they would've been if you had just been patient.

     

     

    I Cannot Log in Game, but I Can Log in the Website.

    Follow the instructions when you fail logging in. Use lowercase username. I'm not sure why this ticket is still such a common occurrence when it says to do this directly on the client.

     

     

    Also, please note, tickets are not completed over the weekend. The chances of you getting an answer Friday night, Saturday, or Sunday are slim to none, so please do not spam forums or the GS's when asking about your ticket.

     

    This list is not all inclusive, but keep this one thought in mind, ask your self when placing in a ticket, "Have I checked the forums first?" and "Is this something a GS can help with, or another player?" 9/10 times you can receive a faster answer to a non-account related issue if you post it on the forums or ask a GS for assistance.

     

    And finally, I'm sure some of you are asking yourself, "What can I do to help keep tickets down?" Aside from using the forums as a place to ask for non-account related help, you can close your ticket if your issue has been solved!

    Closing your ticket before the issue is addressed or after it has been fixed means it's taken out of our inbox and out of the list of tickets that need to be done. If we have to go through 100+ tickets that the person has already solved just delays the time it takes for us to get to those tickets that still need help.

     

    Any ticket that has not received a user reply will be closed after 1 week. If your ticket has been closed and you do not think it is completed, RESPOND BACK TO THAT TICKET! Even though the ticket is closed, unless it's been forced closed, you can always reply back to it.

  15. I've decided to add 1 more addition to this post, and that would be:

    • Do not give information out to those who claim to be part of staff.
      • GMs can get account information on you without needing to ask for it directly. If anyone is asking, do not give it to them and report the character immediately! GS's will NEVER ask for account information from you. If they are, then report them immediately as well!
      • GMs will never tell you "how many strikes you have against you and they need your account information for the ban". If you have to be banned, you will NOT receive any sort of warning. 
      • If the character is not listed here as part of the staff, then do not believe that they are. Characters with the name: "Admin, Administrator, etc" are not part of the staff, nor are they remotely linked to the staff. Staff names are listed on the forums here as well as in the "News" section when they are hired.
      • Staff impersonation is bannable across all games. Be smart about things and report/ignore those that you see doing this!

  16. It's come to my attention that it seems the basic tips/methods for account security are unknown. You are the only one who can fully secure your account and keep it safe from those who wish to do it harm!

     

    Here are a couple tips to help keep your account secure!

     

    • Do NOT share accounts!
      • Friends or not, anyone else but you logging on your account poses a risk to it! You never know if that friend of your's shares that information with someone else.

     

    • Do not use the same log in information that you've used for previous games. (Especially previous Nostale Servers)
      • Make things hard to guess and harder to obtain. If you use different account names and different usernames, the chance of someone in your past knowing this will be slim to none. Or if someone has access to your past information, it'll be useless to them.

     

    • Do not use common/easy to guess passwords!
      • Your birthday, though easy to remember, is not a secure password. Use a long password consisting of letters and numbers (and where able, symbols as well).
      • Replace letters for numbers and numbers for letters. For example: password: Hellothereworld  would be more secure as: H31LoTh3rEw0rlD

     

    • Do not visit any sites that claim to give anything for free here.
      • "Whoa! Give us your account information for free VGN! WHOA!"
        • How would they be able to put that VGN on your account without access to our databases? Its a bit of common sense needed here.
        • If it's not listed on our website as a partner to us, then it's someone trying to steal your account!

     

    • Do not download or use anything that claims to give you an edge in the game!
      • Its bannable to begin with, but you never know if you're actually downloading some form of malware or some keylogger that is waiting for you to log into the game to steal your information!

     

    • (To those applicable) Use a random, but easy to remember, secondary password!
      • 000000 Is not a good secondary password, and neither is 123456 or 987654. Write it down on a sheet of paper if you need help in remembering it!

    Account security consists of having common sense on the internet. If it's not announced on our website as something we fully support, you shouldn't trust it. If people are spamming sketchy links in-game, report it to a GS to have them taken care of. 

     

    Account security should be one of your main priorities when playing here. We cannot assist in retrieving items you may have lost because you neglected your account security.

    But Vivi, what should I do if someone has access to my account or somehow got access to my email!

    If someone has access to your account, easiest way to get rid of them is to change your password here.

    If they changed your password for you, you can recover the account from here.

    If they somehow got into your email, first secure it. We do not do email changes to accounts, so this step is important.

    Many emails have an option that allow you to add a secondary email to the account in case something were to happen to it. The "Forgot Email" or "Forgot Password" options will lead you to getting your account back. 

    When your email is secured by you again, begin looking into how to add a second security measure to the account.

    Most emails now have a way to add a second verification measure to your email. 

     

    For Gmail:

    • Sign in and Go to "My Account", found within the 9x9 square in the top right corner of any gmail services
    • Select "Sign in & Security"
    • Scroll down till you find "2 Step Verification"
    • Give a phone number to receive a SMS text message or call
    • Google also has an authentication app, similar to Microsoft's, if you do not want to use a phone number.

     

    For Hotmail:

    • Go to "Security Settings", and sign in with your account.
    • Decide between using the "Authentication App", "verification through phone number", or "verification through another email".
    • Input the information required or use the QR code to download the app to continue.

     

    For Yahoo:

    • Log into your account and navigate to your "Account Security" page
    • Scroll down to find "Two-step verification" and check the toggle button to enable
    • Input a phone number to receive an "SMS text message" or a "Call" to verify the number
    • Enter the verification code.
    • Yahoo also has an authentication app, similar to Microsoft's, if you do not want to use a phone number.
