  1. As i said, "one of the causes as far as i know". Of course there are a lot more things way more problematic than that. Everytime i write on this forum it seems like i'm not understood completely. And that is why i never talk with a "i'm 100% sure" attitude (other than the fact that i can't be).

Now, for the part i'm talking since the beginning: "high lvl people are going to buy", but we know already that the greedier ones will try their best to have the highest number of mates in the lowest time while spending as low as possible, and that is most likely going to be something similar to the Gillion thing: low-lvl alts. Then they decide if they use it for themselves or if they sell it like you would want actual beginners to do. The end of ts gold was just another example of why this is a delicate implementation, for how simple it could be.

I say it because i saw it happen in official servers, and you veterans saw it happen here before. It all goes on how the details of this idea will be.

  2. Well, as i'm understanding you want to get these drops from the mobs inside the TS (you talk about a lower drop rate).

Recently, the 30-40 PTS cause the removal of the NO-EXP CH (was not the only reason, but it was one of the causes a.f.a.i.k.) because by using Alts you were able to drop way too much mates from the mobs, since you would just tank the mobs with your high-level char and kill them with the low-level and that caused the game to think "Hey, this guy is fighting monsters which may actually be a challenge to him, let's give him the right reward" instead of "Dude, you're level 80+, wtf you're doing here? you don't get nothing".

I meant something like that for alts. Also, doubling/tripling the reward at the end of TS, which was the reason for some TS (or maybe all? i don't remember, i'm sure TS 73 is affected) not giving gold while finishing them with a group.

It may be useless all considered, but is still something that people will be willing to do. In IT official we had people lying in ticket system about their whole family, toddlers included, playing the game just to get themselves some extra accounts, and that was in 2009-2010. Now in 2018-2019 you can see some guys doing AoT all day long with almost 100 chars. Trust me, there are people who will try to find a way to improve their earnings again.

So again, it depends on how much Bash trust us, and how the idea be finalized. Still looking forward to this idea though.

  3. Now i don't know how the current bots work (the last thing i used was cheat engine in 2011), but i don't think it would be that hard to create a schedule that says

    >group players Char1 Char2
    > Go into position (X;Y) on current map

    > Use sticks

    >Use PTS item / Change mouse position to (X;Y) coordinates and double click, Change mouse position to coordinates (X2;Y2) and click [This would be selecting the PTS based on the map and then conferming the crafting session]

Maybe it would be had for them to click and enter the actual Hidden TS that would be created, but i'm sure that it wouldn't take much for bots to use hidden TSs too, they would just have to repeat those steps until they find a source: if they don't find it the TS wouldn't be created anyway and there are "zones" in which TSs appear most of the times.

As for the idea in itself, I think it could work. PTSs were already used for gillion farming, and the last BTS already used to give a lot of Pearl of Darkness (if you had the right level ofc, but even at 90+ they would spawn in good chunks), so it's nothing that far from the actual system, but a rebalancing to allow newer players to get a bit of money if they don't want only to grind may be a good thing.

Though we all know how multiclienters will use it, so it mostly depend on how much Bash trusts the players.

    Ranged/Buff(like martial artist in secondary)

Wait wut, the artist has his kicks as secondary attack, which are melee and were usable even before the medallions (secondary weapons) were introduced ?

Anyway i think we saw enough with all the others SPS that a summon-based char wouldn't be good in Nostale. Think of mines, both destroyer's and cheongbi's, Seer's ulti, jajamaru, Inferno, Ninja bushi. We can already see what a summon class would become, and i don't think that it would be fun in the long run unless the whole mechanism of summons is changed: at the moment it's not even possible to comprehend how the damage of some of those works.

Therefore i'd say melee/magic with any ispiration. We have 2 melee/ranged (archer has ranged/melee so it's the same combo), Magic/ranged and melee/melee in artist (which is not in vendetta yet, but it's in the poll so he exists), so i'd say that having a class similar to what Graham and Pumpkin bushi do may be interesting: It would allow for a tanky class without the BS that crit hits can be, allowing for an easier balance in my opinion.

But we all know this is just for fun, if it's ever going to be released it will be when bots will stop existing, so have fun designing ?

  5. No, except using a portable pc i don't know any way to zoom out other than the mouse wheel.

About that mouse emulator though, have you tried running it as administrator? I admit of using emulators on other games, mostly clickers, and most games would block it if it wasn't run as administrator.

  6. The only places i ever dropped slade Claws (on official server, i really like the slade raid but nobody opened it so making seals were the only way) were Shanera-3 and ICs that have the mobs from Shanera -3 (don't remember if it was 60-69 or 70-79 or both) and i tell you, the rate was 1 to 3, which means that if in 15 minutes in Shanera i was to find one claw drop, in those 15 minutes IC i was to usually find 3-4 claw drops, and this was on the official servers. With how the drop rate is here, i'd say that you could make half a seal every IC if not more.

    Probably the order of appearance

Yeah, most likely is that, since when you finish a room the game takes the drops and puts them upside-down (i'm used to dropping while skilling so i have been able to see that a lot).

Anyway i agree with the suggestion. If there is no intention (or capability, nostale files can be weird sometimes) from bash to make them usable or deleting them from the database (aka fix), the easiest solution would be to bring their drop rate to 0%, so that they won't be able to dropped anymore without having to do big changes. It doesn't seem that hard of a thing since many other numbers and effects have been changed in this and other servers.

  8. I was planning to use it (for pts and to make a low-level mage with high-lvl sps to have fun) so i too kind of want the channel back.

If it doesn't come back i'll just find other ways, although with the increased xp rate it will be hard.

    Signed.

(May Bash explain to us which were the problems with the no-xp channel? So we can understand the decision)

  9. I don't know if this would be easy to do (i guess it is, it shouldn't change much in the code, maybe only a few string, or maybe it is locked on "Playing Characters" without distinction) but if it were, what would you think would be the best color?

Right now we have blue for Chars,Yellow for pets (that becomes red when they miss), red for enemy and summoned help (mines/mini-jajas) and purple for special damage (double damage in SP8 or reflected damage from SP5/Caligor)

So it needs to be a color which can be easily seen between all of these and that doesn't interfere or distract the player

And what would you change? Your own damage number or the others? Your own damage would be the best way imo.

Btw, when i want to see my own damage on enemies i try to see how the cycle goes and see where the less damage comes in (a spot where most attacks are cooling down). Then, i just watch carefully my animation and check my damage when it arrives. The first times can be tedious, but if you are used to all the attack timings in the game you will be done in an istant.

it'll be boring seeing everyone using the same title for its buff

This can be decreased with a single feature that SoulWorker has: You can choose different titles for effects and showoff.

In that game titles are numbered, so i'll give you a quick example:

Best titles are usually 97 and 137, but i want to use title 86 because it goes well with the other cosmetics i chose for my char, so i just click on the name of 97 or 137 to choose them as effect titles and click on the Tick (✓) right beside 86 to choose that as the cosmetic title.

I don't know if it's hard to implement such a thing, but if it were to be made it would prevent the "everyone has the same" problem (when there will be more titles to choose from, ofc currently it's easy to see only Raidical and Rainbows). Of course this would've to be made after Nayxa's suggestion were to be accepted, although i agree that if titles start giving buffs they will become a forced grind as there will be people requesting them to add you in raids and guilds, as low as that bonus may be. It happens for Tarots and equips, and it happens in SoulWorker too, it is just a fact.

  11. I think you've read it wrong.

I'm not saying "give trophies so people can stay low level". I know it becomes boring like that. I'm saying "use the items that have no function atm to give a startup at the trophy system without having to do hundreds and hundreds of raids, so that eventual new people can understand how to use that slot in a practical way" Of course these story based trophies will be useless when the people arrive at getting the actual trophies. They could be obtained through main quest or even new secondary ones, in the end is Bash that decides the details.

Think of it as in like an appetizer, a pre-dinner, where the dinner is the trophies themselves.

Also, where did you even read shops? I actually said to remove those items from shops if they end up being used...

  12. So we all know the trophy system that Bash made. I still can't use it, but i have to say seems well made.

We also know those story-based items that are used as "rewards" for completing an act, like the heart-shaped zenas seal, that are in fact useless.

So why not combining the two? Any rare, unobtainable item that is actually useless in the game may become a low-effort/low-reward trophy, to introduce newcomers (like me) to the system and to give an actual reward to those who follow the quest for more than the exp.

This may also apply to other unused items like some vases or other items that are normally found in the TS boxes in the original game, or are even selled by some NPCs (long bow arrows cough cough). Of course if they are used they would become special items like the story ones, obtainabile by doing special quests created for low-levels, and would give very low impact bonuses. For long bow arrows, for example, they could give +50 ranged attack or something like that, which is double the initial value of the hawk's buff for normal archers.

I know early game here doesn't actually exists due to increased rates, but i still think it may be a good idea.

  13. I'm not sure i understood correctly, but what i'm reading is one of these things (at least in my head, don't what you may be actually thinking of) :

    1) Re-using the "Strange Yertirand" idea that was put in Jotunnheim, in a safer and controlled manner so that it is actually enjoyable.

    2) New minibosses like the 1k year old mandra in sunny meadows, with actual rewards and mechanics (for what kind of mechanics Nostale can allow)

    3) Something in between Caligor and the usual act4 raids (this was Bash's idea in my head)

I mean, even if recycled, i won't reject any new content as long as it is made with attention. We all hate to see something having to be changed due to abuse, or it not being actually usable.

    1. and 2. are basically the same thing now that i think about it

The players of official seem to just be mad that VGN is the most populated nostale server right now.

Those that have openly admitted it (mostly on the EN forums) said it was mostly due to the fact that all of their gaming friends went away and they remained with no one to play like they used to, and that i say is indeed a really good point. Sadly, VGN is way better than official, so unless GF really pulls a miracle those players will hardly be ever satisfied. I myself play casually on both sides cause i'm not interested in PVP and so i can save up time.

The only people i know of that are mad of the servers themselves is those ones who run their own "private servers" with a dozen of players in it or so. And damn are they toxic if you try to give them any suggestion that may require actual work, even something way less gamechanging than what Bash does here.

  15. I would like it, but only if it's toggable like BluesDragon says. Some people like the original, some people don't want to change their screen's brightness, and some people just can't see in some maps (guild friends in the original told me about it, even outside of winter events), so everyone has a different preference of it.

  16. That is what i said: Depends on the specialist (specifically the weapon and therefore the skill, there are specialists who use both primary and secondary on different skills). I just envisioned a practical example afterwards.

So we both agree that the reply is "No, it doesn't make sense unless you are using the sader itself"

  17. Well... unless they changed some coding to change its functionality in a different way from the original game, it shouldn't make sense.

Only the SLs apply while using attacks on both weapons, because they count towards the general Specialist. All the other effects (whatever effect that may be: low-level mobs dmg, S-% dmg, Resistances dropping, MP rec on kill, Etc....) only work if you attack with that specific weapon. Let's take your example: Swordies with S-% dmg on crossbow. Let's say this swordie is using renegade. Unless they use the 2 skills which actually utilise the crossbow to calculate the damage, that S-% dmg and all the other shell effects will never be applied.

Again, this is the way it functions in the original game. I haven't asked around if this and any other mechanic works in a different way here.

  18. Not really....

In the beginning it was not during all day, some years ago they changed it so it is possible for almost everyone to do activity in that map, like so:
    1621-Orari-LoD-png

As you can see, with the changed times, it does one for those who can play at night, one in the early morning, 4 for the 1st half of the day and 4 for the 2nd half of the day. That pause it's either to allow other activities to take place (IC,Raids,PvP,Farming) or to prevent people staying 24/24H in the game. Don't know if GF had good intentions or what, but this is the times now.

As for why Bash set determined hours of LoD in his server, we can't really know...

Though i can feel your "pain" (I actually hate to go in LoD, so it is a relief for me) since i wasn't able to ever do it before they changed the hours (i always came back home around 20 minutes after Dark Horn, and still kind of do)

  19. But i can still use X to drop things, can't i? I'll explain it a bit better:

I'm a DH (7 SP archer). I'm mobbing tree stumps in act 3. I kill some of them with the first rotation of skills, but there are others still alive. Around me now there are both mobs and drops. I cast my ultimate spell (the one with swords falling from the sky, 999 MP) and while it is casting i press repeatedly X to drop the WoA and materials around me, therefore cancelling the ultimate spell animation and allowing me to cast other things, like the pendulums or other HP-leeching skills.

Would this behavior be problematic? Even if done with no harm to other players, or even helping other players? (thinking raids when i need both to heal myself and stun to protect others with holy's song and heals, just as example)

  20. Thank you very much, i only have one question left then i think i could just start playing again after re-reading the rules too:

While reading patch v18 i've read this:

" If you are caught doing macros or even using alternative clients to perform CTRL+Z function you will be permanently banned! Basically no one should be able to cancel animations now so if you are caught it's game over for you!"

Now i've never done the Ctrl+z method, but in the official server i usually cancel some skill animations (usually long ones, like some of the swords' 2° specialist) by utilizing the drops that mobs i've already killed drop. Mind you, i'm not throwing things on the ground to then pick them up again, i'm just picking things that the mobs dropped and that i would've picked up later anyway, while fighting other mobs that i've already aggroed. Would that be bannable too or i can continue with my strategy of X-spamming during solo PVE?

  21. Thanks for the fast reply, don't worry if you can't remember all, something is better than nothing.

Are there any other special crafts or changes like the trophies? Is there any balancing about buffs and debuffs that made them different from the officials? Or i could just use all the knowledge that i have from years of experience on the other server? Asking this cause i remember that briefly before i left there was some change around some act 5.2 boots drops, and it is common from private server (usually those that live only a month or so, i know VGN is not like those) to do changes that make things way too easy.

Another quick question, just because i don't know the economy and lifestyle on the server: Would it be worth it to rush an high level archer to do fast solo PVE to then restart the 3 (or 4, is the martial class here already?) classes with enough money to enjoy the game as slowly as i want?

Edit: What about bugs? Are the infamous bugs from the official server here too? I'm mainly thinking about mobs running away from you; strange hitboxes and instadeaths in Calvinas raid; Mages shield absorbing and depleting full value MP in arena, where the damage should be halved as far as i know. Are there any bugs that are essential to know about?

I'll get around to reading the patches too in the next few days, so don't worry if nothing important comes to mind.

  22. Hello there! I've been playing Nostale on the official server for almost its whole european lifetime, and around 1 and 1/2 year ago i tried VGN's server (it was at Patch 4 or 5, i don't remember exactly but around that time). I really liked it, but due to other things, i decided to drop it. Now i want to retry, but before deciding to create a new char or continue the old one, i want to know if there is a list, or if someone could make it on the fly, of all the core differences between VGN and the official Nostale server.

I don't want to read "better xp/drop rates, there is new stuff that is usually hidden in the official files" because i can see that on my own. I want a full-on explanation on whatever may not be easy to see or understand at first impact. For example, i saw there has been some change about raidboxes, but i didn't really understand what happened.

    Thanks in advance

  23. If you mean the changes that were made on the official nostale about 2 years ago, i should still have the excel file around somewhere, maybe in an hard disk. I'll search for it then edit this message when i find it.

Edit: Yeah, forgot that i downloaded the italian "translation" (Google translate FTW it's GF's motto) so it's useless that i link it unless requested, but it should've been the patch that went on the 8th of October, 2016. I'm searching on the english forum if it is still avalaible, if not i'll try on the official site. If not that either, i can't help you.

    2° Edit: Found it!
    https://en-blog-nostale.gameforge.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Nostale_SP_Balance_Update_Guide_de-de_en-gb-1.pdf

If you don't mean that, then nope.
