So everything is pretty much done. I am doing some clean up.

So what exactly has been done?
I've ran several scripts used to identify duplicate items. Those items have been placed in another table (incase of an error on our behalf we can retrieve an item back to it's owner but I very much doubt it will be necessary). Please don't be placing 100s of tickets requesting items back your item will return to you after I've reviewed the items myself and believe it was a mistake. I will be sat reviewing all the items we marked as duped in case of an error on my behalf so maybe the item will return to you who knows but don't be taking more of our time spamming us.

What procedures are in place now to prevent such a long down time in the future if this is to happen again?
I've decided to backup the database on an hourly basis from now on and not a daily basis. I believe pin pointing the damage and then rolling back so people aren't losing days but only hours of work is a necessary approach. We are doing our best to monitor and fix all the exploits in the game eventually I believe we will be critical bug free but until then things like this will happen the game is very old and have very old methods remember.

When will the server be back online?
I anticipate the server to be back online in the next few hours. I have some cleaning up to do and some just final analysis before I am happy with the progress.

Compensation?
I will talk with the team on a possible compensation package being added. But right now no plans have been made (maybe on maintenance next week I will have a little more info about this) but we will be extending the Summer Event for another 2 days.

Hey Guys,

Just an announcement regarding current situation. I have been notified the guy returned (don't worry he didn't dupe I just couldn't find some of the alts because he's either using another machine or he's working with other people). He started dropping items so I've figured best course of action is to remove all the duped items in the game.

This is in retaliation of me banning all of his customers and demanding that if they wish to be unbanned they must show me successful charge backs against the guy doing the damage to our beloved server and game.

Does this mean I might possibly lose items?
Unfortunately some people are going to be missing items if you are it's because it was a duped item. I understand people bought them but there is no way of compensation tbh we do log everything but to expect us to manually hand out compensations is just not something feasible given the size of our community.

If you have any anger please direct it towards the people who have bought the gold they're the reason he is doing this and as long as they keep trying to buy it from him he's gonna continue doing this (alongside him being a jealous little script kiddie).

Small note to all you "hackers" out there. You're hacking a game made in 2003 it's the definition of someone using cheat engine life hacking on Super Mario. It achieves nothing and it's cute you guys wanna continue calling yourselves "reverse engineers". You're hacking a game that uses plain text packets bravo!

I will notify everyone when the server is online the scripts are taking a while so it's gonna be down for a few hours.

Servers are currently offline and will remain offline whilst we investigate an issue causing serious damage to the game. We're aware of a guy who goes by the name of Hotu or Tuop who have found a way to dupe items and gold. The servers will remain offline until I have figured out how they are doing this.

Those who have bought gold or items from this person(s) expect to be banned (very easy to find your alts given I log your mac ).

The servers will remain down for as long as it takes.

Event:
 - We've enabled the Summer Event!

System Changes:
 - Added several checks server side in an attempt to prevent alt abuse in certain areas of the game.

Quote

Should not be able to kill alts for fame now (FC Only).
Should not be able to give Commend's to alt characters.
If a Timespace is done with a party then the gold reward is set to 0.
NOTE: You can only obtain gold if you do the Timespace solo. You will still receive the items and other rewards just not the gold if you're with a party.

 - If you leave a party whilst inside Timespace it will kick you out.
 - If you exit the game whilst in Timespace it will kick you out.

New rule change added:
We understand people will find workarounds so we've decided to implement some rules towards this as alt abuse is getting beyond our control and we need to begin controlling it before the game is ruined.

 - Increased the maximum amount of items a map will allow before deleting items by 400%.
 - You can no longer join minilands in FC.
 - Added a check for the location when teleporting to any map, raid or anywhere to check if that location can be walked on.
NOTE: Should counter a lot of teleport bugs people are abusing.

 - Added a check to the game that does not reward people Fame when killing someone with their pet (FC Only).

 - We've decided to reset Fame as so:

Players with fame > 400,000 have been set to 400,000.
Players with fame > 300,000 have been set to 300,000.
Players with fame > 200,000 have been set to 200,000.
Players with fame > 100,000 have been set to 100,000.
Players with fame < 100,000 have been set to 0.

We understand this is going to upset you guys but we cannot keep seeing people increase by 20m fame in 1 day and do nothing about it. Before people say "well punish those doing it" that's why this action is done because everyone was doing it.

This will be the only time we wipe Fame. Our new rules and system in place will reset those abusing it and possibly ban them if they continue.

With the rate being x10 it won't take you guys long to reclaim the Fame anyways but at least we will know it's somewhat cleaner now.

 - Everyone's commend in game has been set to 0.
 - Fame Rank has been wiped.

General Changes:
 - Removed Easter props from Nosville.

 - Legendary Hunter has been added to Port Alveus.
This NPC will have various Daily Quests that reward parchments, exp and other items upon completion. These quests are available for players level 88+

Summer Event is here!

Whether you want to fight against Pirates or battle against the Bunnies it's your choice in this 2 week long event!

Event will end: Tuesday 1st August 2017

Lola Lopears (Bunny Raid)

During this event you will be allowed to accept quests from Raphael located in Port Alveus.

He will have 2 daily quests available each day for you that will reward Raid Seals and other items.

NOTE: The main quest is level 70+ (to avoid alt abuse). The other Ginseng quest is for 20+.

You will have to locate Bunny Burrows during the main Quest they look like this:

This NPC can found anywhere in Nosville it will appear in random locations around Nosville.

Raid Access can be found in Nosville!

Pirates! Yarrrr!

During this event the Pirates will have many quests to claim and possibility of winning new limited costumes and amongst other stuff!

Access the ship via Port Alveus!

The difference between our version and TW are very slim I don't know why you're wanting content when we're what 1-2 Senshi's behind (useless skills and not very good ones anyway) and dungeons? What dungeons? All TW seem to be doing is doing those events they're 3 months behind their schedule in relation to the new class and everything. Merging our patches with official is a long and extensive process so for a few little things it's not worth it.

Also the playerbase has been the same maybe a few people have left but the game isn't losing members or growing members if anything the next part of content would be custom and not related to TW at all.

[Scamming]

Hey Guys,

It's just one thing after another with this game. It's very tiring and I don't understand how many people can be just so poisonous to a community.

Please understand that you do TRADE AT YOUR OWN RISK we do not recover your items but if you do report the scammer we will look into the player and also ban every one of their alt accounts.

Please be aware of the scamming attempts of the following:

• Pet Beads
  Whatever you do if someone wants to sell their pet but insists on you giving them the bead do not do it. I have received a lot of reports lately of people doing this and it's stupid and I don't know why some of you are falling for it.
   
• Specialist Card on Alt
  Only trade if someone gives you the card. Don't go for the whole "hey give me the gold on this character I'll jump on my main after" routine. This is just stupid and again I don't know why some of you are falling for it.
   
• Cardholders
  Same with the Beads just don't do it guys. Stop falling for these tricks!

You've been made aware and there are plenty of other people trying to scam you out there just again be aware that the community is full of these pricks who just want to ruin the fun for you. Stop allowing them to continue and wise up on your moves. We are doing our best to stopping these people but we cannot police the game 24/7.

An update in regards to this.

If you have ever registered to any of the servers this person is affiliated with I'd advise you strictly to change your password. We do not return stolen items or anything but the people behind stealing your items and ruining your experience here is this person and whoever else is helping him.

It is just plain stupid and rude of them to be doing such actions but they have a bitter jealous grudge against our accomplishment and are wanting to ruin this for you all.

This shows bad practice of information handling and I'd advise you all to keep away from the servers this person is involved in. In fact because of OpenNos being so open I'd advise you to keep away from any of the new servers coming up that is OpenNos based. It is to my own knowledge people are deliberately placing servers online now to just steal your information and benefit here.

That being said it is always advised never to use duplicate information such as accounts and passwords on any website, email service and even here. You do not know the people handling your information and as you guys can tell they will use it against you!

I have done this due to the fact it has affected a lot of other features in game. As well as the economy going even worse. Think of this 1 night of x2 as an event that will never happen again.

Hey Guys,

So the past few days things have started getting really out of hand with the community in NosTale. To the point it's delaying work that we should really be focusing on instead. This is becoming a nuisance when I woke up 4 hours ago and have only just finished dealing with everyone's "problems".

Stolen Items
We're aware peoples shit is being stolen and why is this happening?

• Because some of you are going to websites trying to download hacks. You think this is a naive comment or stupid? No it is not the websites and applications people are using have malware and other forms of phishing methods and are stealing your information.
  
  Why do some of you believe if you put in your account information you're going to receive free or unlimited VGN are you guys that stupid?
   
• Sharing accounts like nothing is going to happen to you lol. You just gave someone your account information online expect the worst to happen!
   
• Using the same information you used on another Private Server of NosTale. Right now everyone is very bitter about our network because we are the real deal when it comes to NosTale so what is stopping those people using the information you placed on their site to now do it on ours and sabotage?

We do not recover anything anyone has lost because of your lack of common sense and being just plain stupid about it. So don't ever expect us to recover your items and gold it will NEVER happen.

How to prevent your account being stolen

• Create a long and strong password (even save it to a txt file if necessary until you remember it).
• Stop using duplicate information used on other sites.
• Stop sharing your account.
• Stop visiting malicious websites expecting free stuff!

Account security is your own. We have methods that encrypt data as it is entered into our system so we don't have your passwords saved. So losing your accounts is totally on yourselves and is not our responsibility it is yours!

Hacking and Botting
One of the main reasons tickets take so damn long is the investigation process in looking into hacking and botting. Why are you guys so adamant to get away with it? We've banned over 1000 accounts in the last week from hacking or botting. You're wasting valuable time we could be spending on patches (I am 2 weeks behind my work you guys were expected to have a major overhaul patch on a lot of systems yesterday but nope I am too busy trying to administrate this game because you all can't play fair).

People could ask us to get more staff and we are but it's not necessary if everyone just played properly instead of ruining it for everyone. Yes we all know you guys can run visual studio and compile a server. Read epvp and follow a few guides class yourselves as c# devs and are now fully fluent in network management and packet analysis (because it's so fucking hard to send a plain text packet to a server). No one cares about that shit it's about focusing on what is right and that is to make a server fun for all and I am trying my best but you're not making it any easier on us!

Stop asking when 6.2 is coming out
6.2 will come out when it is ready. Yes we are going to update to it but asking every 2 minutes isn't going to rush it.

 

Other than that thank you to those who are playing the game accordingly. Thank you for making this game a great game to run and thank you for your continued support.
